Adoption

Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment, so potential adoptive homes are screened carefully by CCC volunteers. We try to fit the right human companion to the right cat and ensure a secure and enduring home. CCC volunteers interact with cats on a daily basis and can discuss the personalities of the cats and Kittens.

Domino Pondering Domino on Bed

Domino - posted on 11 August 2008.  Black-and-white female born April 2004. She was born with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This means she should be kept indoors so that she can't get sick from pathogens in the air, and should not have contact with other cats unless they have been vaccinated against FIV. She might not have as long a life as an uninfected cat but she has been healthy since correction of some minor problems in kittenhood. Past fostering has shown she tends to be a one-person cat who is nervous in large households and shy of strangers. A low-key little cat, she doesn't ask much from life except yummy food a couple of times a day and a chance to curl up on your lap. Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated F3, Lifetime Registered. Available for permanent or temporary rehoming. Trial placement may be possible. Contact Paula on 9398 9630.

Jester Admiring Self Jester Slumping

Jester - posted on 11 August 2008.  Grey-and-white male born April 2004. Jester is Domino's brother and their mother had FIV. Although Jester does not have FIV, his mother could not pass on immunities to him and he has a tendency to minor ailments which sometimes call for medication, which he is good at taking. He is also on a diet of "Hills t/d" for his teeth and digestive system, though he loves Whiskas for breakfast with some oat bran sprinkled on it. A large, playful and cuddly cat with ragdoll tendencies (see photo), Jester is good with teenagers, and though shy at first with strangers is soon friendly. He loves other cats though older ones find his playfulness annoying. A bit of an escapologist who dashes through any open door. Proximity to a busy road would probably not be a good idea. Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated F3 and FIV, Lifetime Registered. Available for permanent or temporary rehoming. Trial placement may be possible. Contact Paula on 9398 9630.

Mushu 1 Mushu 2 Mushu 3

Mushu - posted on 29 April 2009.

Mushu is a desexed, microchipped, 3 year-old domestic male cat. He is very gentle, sweet-natured, friendly, affectionate and in desperate need of a permanent home. He turned up just before Christmas in one of my cat colonies on the campus of UNSW. Luckily, I was able to trace his history.

He started out as a 'rescue' cat and was purchased by a young girl. When she moved out of home, she left him with her mother, who was very fond of him. Unfortunately, her partner is allergic to cats and she had to give Mushu away. He was given to a Malaysian uni student who has since finished her degree and returned to Malaysia. In turn, this student passed Mushu onto another student. Mushu then either ran away or was dumped at UNSW.

I've been looking after him since December, but the other members of the colony are not happy about him being there. He's a domestic cat and they're not and the chief cat fights with him frequently. It would be wonderful if some kind-hearted person could offer him a permanent, stable and loving home. He's a beautiful cat and would be a terrific companion. He loves being outdoors, but likes having access to indoors as well and is used to being kept inside at night.

If you are interested in adopting Mushu or know of someone (nice) who is thinking about getting a cat, could you please contact Coralie Venus on 9385 2060 or email: tilc@unsw.edu.au .

Meggsy

Meggsy – posted 15 October 2008. Very attractive dark brown tabby, about 18 months old. Healthy, desexed, microchipped and F3 vaccinated (documents available) – lifetime registration can be arranged. She is tame, house-trained and very affectionate – loves cuddles and kisses, and purrs very loudly. We believe that she was a previously domesticated young cat abandoned on campus last summer. She is still living on campus but is desperate for a safe secure home after being “mugged” by another campus cat recently. She does not seem to get on particularly well with other cats so would be best placed in a home with no other pets. Permanent home preferred. Contact Helen on 9385 4373 if you have any questions, or would like to meet Meggsy.
